Challenge Constructors was established in 1977 as a general contractor specializing in industrial construction. During the late seventies and early eighties Challenge worked primarily for federal and local government, as well as private industry.  In addition to building construction Challenge developed specialized qualifications in concrete repair, structural renovations, waterfront repair work and adaptive plant renovations.

In 1983 Challenge was appointed as an authorized builder for Butler Manufacturing Company beginning a gradual transition to design-build, industrial-commercial building construction.  In 1987 Challenge was designated a "Career Builder" with Butler Manufacturing.

Although still actively involved in plant renovations, structural repairs and heavy industrial work, Challenge is primarily focused in the design-build, industrial-commercial building market offering a full range of construction related services including preliminary planning, site selection, design, construction, development and leasing.
